Family/Couple’s Therapy

Family DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) is a specialized and empowering form of therapy that involves the participation of family members in the treatment process. Family members can include parents, siblings, spouses, or other significant individuals in your life.

With my guidance as a skilled therapist, families can work together to address challenges and develop practical strategies for managing stress and conflict. Family DBT therapy can help you and your loved ones strengthen your bonds and achieve greater harmony in your relationships.

Families can also be part of an intensive weekend retreat where every member walks away with a behavioral contract and a clearer plan for change. I am available for international travel to conduct this type of family retreat.

Couples need help resolving problems.

When couples come to me for therapy, they are often experiencing a range of emotions – from frustration and anger to sadness and despair. They may struggle with communication, trust, or intimacy issues that affect their relationship and cause significant emotional pain.

Couple’s therapy under the DBT modality can help couples identify the root causes of their relationship challenges and develop practical strategies for addressing them. Couples can strengthen their bonds and achieve greater harmony in their relationships by learning new communication skills, coping mechanisms, and ways to regulate their emotions.

I conduct one annual week retreat in my native Costa Rica for couples who wish to renew their sense of purpose and commitment to each other.

DBT aims to help families and couples identify patterns of communication and emotional responses that cause negative interactions and learn to replace them with more positive and constructive reactions.

Under the DBT modality, individuals, couples, and families can gain greater insight into their emotions, learn new ways of communicating with each other, and develop practical tools for managing conflict and stress.

They can also better understand themselves and their loved ones, leading to greater empathy, compassion, and emotional intimacy.

Don’t let your relationships suffer. We can work together to help you learn to improve intimacy and your emotional responses as issues arise. Please get in touch with me today!
